Delhi. India has termed as baseless the claims being made on social media regarding the US Navy’s attack on the fourth ship, Liaki Freedom, carrying Indian sailors near the Oman coast. The Ministry of External Affairs, in a post on social media from its Fact Check handle on Saturday, said that the claim being made on social media about the attack on the ship Liaki Freedom carrying Indian sailors is fake.

The Ministry of External Affairs has also said that the master of this ship has been talked to and all the sailors on board the ship are safe. The ministry has asked people to beware of such false and baseless claims and posts on social media. Earlier, several posts on social media said that the Liaki Freedom, the fourth ship carrying Indian sailors near Oman, has been attacked by the US Navy and four sailors have been killed.

Foreign Ministry did fact check

It is noteworthy that earlier last week, three ships carrying Indian sailors were attacked near Oman and three Indian sailors were killed. India has expressed strong protest over this by calling the ambassador in-charge of the US Embassy here. Meanwhile, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also spoke to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Friday and expressed his objection to the attack on the ship carrying Indian sailors.

“Spoke to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio. I reiterated India’s strong objection to the US Navy strikes in the Gulf that killed three Indian sailors. Such lethal action against commercial shipping is not justified,” Jaishankar said in a post on social media.
