In West Bengal, at around 3 am on Saturday morning, a large team of police raided the house of Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee in Kalighat, Kolkata. This raid lasted for more than four hours. This action was taken in a case to Salboni police station in Paschim Medinipur district.

Central force personnel were also present along with the police. According to local people, the police team reached outside Abhishek Banerjee’s house at around 3 in the morning. TMC alleged that the police had intruded inside the house by breaking the lock. As soon as the news of the raid was received, former Chief Minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee also reached Abhishek’s house.

Speaking to reporters, Abhishek Banerjee said that the police broke the lock, searched every room in the entire house. He termed this action as wrong.

Just two days before this, the state CID had questioned Abhishek Banerjee in the fake signature case to the state assembly. At present, the police officials have not given any official statement regarding this raid.
