News agency ANI, quoting sources in its report, said that a case was registered on the complaint of Tushar Kanti Das at 3.45 pm on June 7. An official said a case has been registered under the law based on the complaint. All aspects of the speech are being scrutinized.
The complainant alleged that Mamata Banerjee had given a statement on March 9 at the protest stage near the metro channel in Dharmatala. This posed a threat to the democratic structure of the country. His statement was intended to disturb public peace and affect communal harmony.

Based on the complaint, Kolkata Police has registered an FIR against former CM Mamata Banerjee under sections 196(1), 351(2) and 352 of the Indian Justice Code (BNS).

Trinamool Congress also reacted to the FIR lodged against the party supremo. The party said that the FIR is politically motivated. Part of a sustained effort to target the party leadership.

BJP MLA Indranil Khan says that action should have been taken against Mamata Banerjee long ago, when she was in power. He worked closely with anti-India forces and instigated people. Strict action should be taken against them. Union Minister of State Sukant Majumdar said that such statements instigate people. Naturally an FIR has been registered against her (Mamata Banerjee).
