Only got the match visa. But the American public is unwilling to give that opportunity to war-torn Iran! The World Cup starts from Thursday. Before that, people went down the road to Los Angeles. They claim that there are continuous violations of human rights in Iran. The Islamic state is taking away women’s freedom. Therefore, Iran should be banned from the World Cup stage, people have demanded. Among the protesters are US citizens of Iranian descent.

Protesters gathered in front of City Hall in Los Angeles. With them were pictures of several sportsmen, who opposed the state power. Then they probably died in government custody. One of those athletes is Ashghar Adibi. He played football in jersey in Iran in 1970. But later he said, Iran’s national team has actually become Ayatollah’s team. Iran’s army is twirling a stick over football. Ashgar also said that the army that kills people should not be represented. However, there is no news of Adibi for now.

Protesters also held photos of Habib Khabiri, the former captain of Iran’s national team. Arrested at the start of Ayatollah rule in 1979. He was sentenced to death within five years. The American public protested with the pictures of several such footballers. According to them, Iran’s football team is actually controlled by the country’s military. The World Cup game of the football team which is being tortured day after day by the army cannot be accepted.

One of these protesters is Ryan Salami. His parents fled Iran and immigrated to America. “Iran has been called in here and allowed to play. The country is peaceful—it’s being tried to prove it. But there really isn’t much peace in Iran—just executions and torture,” Ryan says. Some say, even if the footballers want to protest, they may be forced to remain silent for fear of the rulers. That is why the American public wants Iran to be expelled from the World Cup.
