In a significant operation against drug trafficking, the Nurpur Police have successfully dismantled an active interstate narcotics network. This was achieved with the seizure of 264.6 grams of heroin, which was cleverly hidden within the steering cowl cover of a white Honda Amaze (registration number PB‑06W‑4003). The operation took place near Milwan, adjacent to the Himfed Milk Plant, executed by the CIA Nurpur team.

The confiscated heroin is classified as a commercial quantity under the NDPS Act. Authorities apprehended a well-known supplier from Punjab at the scene, and the vehicle involved in the trafficking has been taken into custody.

Information on the Suspect

  • Name: Jitendra Singh (41)

  • Address: Village Bhartwal, Post Office Riali Kalan, Tehsil Batala, District Gurdaspur (Punjab)

Operation Insights Following a tip-off, police intercepted the suspect's vehicle near the Ulehrian-Milwan railway crossing. Independent witnesses were present during the operation, and a detailed search led to the discovery of the illegal substance. On-site testing with a drug detection kit confirmed the substance as heroin.

Connections Across States Initial questioning indicated that the suspect is linked to a broader network that extends through Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh. He is already facing three NDPS cases registered in these states. This successful operation is anticipated to significantly disrupt the supply chain in the area.

Future Actions The police have secured both the heroin and the vehicle. Ongoing investigations aim to trace the origin of the shipment and identify its intended recipients, with the goal of completely dismantling the trafficking network.

The Superintendent of Police in Nurpur has reiterated the district's dedication to enforcing strict legal measures against drug trafficking and ensuring public safety and order.
