Monaco’s emerging star Maghnes Akliouche has confirmed that he is open to a major move in the upcoming transfer window, suggesting that his stint at Stade Louis II may be nearing its conclusion. The 24-year-old attacking midfielder, who has caught the attention of top European clubs such as Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool, has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign in Ligue 1.

Akliouche makes intentions clear

Addressing the ongoing speculation about his future, Akliouche acknowledged that a summer transfer feels like the natural progression in his career. The creative midfielder had an impressive 2025-26 Ligue 1 season, featuring in 31 matches and scoring six goals, making him one of the most promising prospects in French football.

In an interview with Nice-Matin before departing for the United States with the French national team for the 2026 World Cup, Akliouche spoke candidly about his situation. When asked whether a summer transfer was on the cards, he said, “Will the next step be a transfer this summer? Yes, but honestly, my focus right now is entirely on this World Cup.”

Focus remains on France’s campaign

Even though he has acknowledged the possibility of leaving Monaco, Akliouche remains fully focused on his World Cup duties. The midfielder is expected to play a vital role for Les Bleus in the tournament across the Atlantic, knowing that his performances on the world stage could further influence his transfer prospects and valuation.

Explaining his approach, he added, “I understand that anything can happen, even during the tournament. This is a huge opportunity for visibility, but I’m staying concentrated on the team’s goals. I also don’t want to show any disrespect to my club by discussing transfers now. There are other priorities at the moment.”

PSG and Liverpool lead the race

Paris Saint-Germain have long admired Akliouche, seeing him as a significant addition to their ongoing project of strengthening their core with top French talent. However, the Parisian club is facing stiff competition from Premier League sides Liverpool and Manchester City, who are also following his situation closely.

Reports indicate that any club interested in securing Akliouche’s signature will need to make a substantial offer. Monaco are believed to be holding out for a fee around €50 million, reflecting their high valuation of the player.

French squad arrives in Boston

With elite clubs circling and the World Cup serving as a global showcase, Akliouche is expected to be one of the key transfer stories of the summer. The French national team has now arrived in Boston, where they will open their World Cup campaign against Senegal. Les Bleus, regarded as one of the tournament favourites, will then face Iraq in Philadelphia before concluding their Group I fixtures against Norway in Foxborough.
