Zoho Launched Nathu-La Server: Indian tech giant Zoho Corporation has created a new history in the domestic tech ecosystem. The company launched its first fully indigenous designer server ‘Nathu La’ (Nathu La) has been launched in the market. This step of Zoho towards becoming self-reliant from hardware to software will prove to be a game-changer in freeing India’s digital infrastructure from foreign dependence.

At present, India’s digital infrastructure is expanding rapidly, but for its main base i.e. server technology, Indian companies always had to turn to foreign countries. Due to this, huge royalty and licensing fees went out of the country. Zoho Corp acquires ‘Nathu La’ This cycle has been broken through. The entire intellectual property of this server is exclusively owned by India, which is a revolutionary change in terms of national security and data sovereignty.

cost and power saving

‘Nathu La’ The servers have been designed keeping in mind the global standards. With Intel’s technology support and the power of state-of-the-art Intel Xeon 6 processors, this server consumes 12 to 18 percent less power at the same performance level. Not only this, it reduces the total cost of ownership (TCO) for any business by 20 to 30 percent.

Zoho Corp CEO Shailesh Davy said that we are proud that ‘Nathu La’ Is completely designed in India. This proves that the hidden talents of our small towns and rural areas also have the potential to develop world-class and complex technology.

Amazing work of youth of Nagpur and 5 years of hard research

The story of building this server started in Nagpur in the year 2020, where Zoho trained a small team of local youth for R&D. This motherboard and chassis platform has been developed after 5 years of continuous research in the field of hardware, firmware and Data Center Secure Control Module (DC-SCM). This architecture is capable of handling complex tasks such as virtualization (VM), high-performance computing (HPC), and artificial intelligence (AI) inference with ease. The company has also filed more than 5 patents to advanced thermal technologies.

Open Compute Project and AI cost reduction

Based on the principles of Open Compute Project (OCP), this server comes with a modular design, which makes it very easy to maintain. Zoho plans to migrate its core applications to this platform. Currently, when the expenses of companies are increasing rapidly due to AI tools, this customized infrastructure of Zoho will provide extremely economical and secure cloud solutions to the customers by controlling the cost of AI operations.

‘bridge’ Programme: A new example of skill development in Tier-2 cities

Zoho’s ‘bridge’ is the driving force behind this technological revolution. (Students Engagement for Transformative Upskilling) programme. More than 300 students from engineering colleges in Central India have been trained through this program that provides practical training in Electronics System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM). While in today’s era there is a danger of weakening the basic understanding of the youth due to AI tools, ‘Setu’ Giving students problem solving and a grounded understanding of core engineering.

New energy to Make in India and self-reliant India

‘Nathu La’ The creation of is completely in line with the Open Source Software (OSS) policy of the Government of India and the Self-reliant India campaign. Due to not being dependent on foreign vendors for any work, from firmware updates to security standards, the role of this indigenous server is going to be very important in government procurement and National Supercomputing Mission (NSM).
