India captain Harmanpreet Kaur says winning the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in England would represent one of the most meaningful achievements of her career as the team prepares for the tournament later this month.

India will first take on England in a three-match T20I series, with the opening match scheduled at the County Ground in Chelmsford. The series will serve as an important part of India's preparations before beginning its Women’s T20 World Cup campaign on June 14.

Reflecting on the possibility of lifting the World Cup trophy in England, Harmanpreet highlighted the personal significance of the venue. The India captain made her T20 international debut during the 2009 T20 World Cup in England and views a potential title triumph in the same country as a memorable full-circle moment.

“Yeah, definitely. I think it will be a dream come true for any cricketer who got their debut in England and then won the World Cup in England. I can’t ask anything else for myself and from God,” Harmanpreet said.

She also emphasised the importance of maintaining consistency throughout the tournament.

“It’s about keeping ourselves in a positive frame and doing the right things again and again because consistency always gives results. It’s about going there, expressing ourselves and enjoying each moment on the field.”

Harmanpreet believes India’s recent success at the ODI World Cup has strengthened the squad’s confidence and provided valuable experience in handling high-pressure situations.

“Winning the World Cup gave us a lot of confidence. That confidence will carry over to this T20 World Cup. We now know how to win and perform under pressure. Those experiences will give us confidence playing this World Cup,” she said.

The India skipper also stressed the value of facing England immediately before the global tournament. She believes the series will help the team adapt to local conditions and fine-tune preparations ahead of the competition.

“Any series before a World Cup is very important. It’s good that we are getting these conditions before the tournament so that we can get used to them. Playing against England is always challenging. We love playing in English conditions.”

“Hopefully, this series will give us everything we need and a lot of confidence going into the T20 World Cup.”

With the Women’s T20 World Cup approaching, India will use the England series as an opportunity to build momentum, gain match practice and further strengthen its preparations for the tournament.
