A 23-year-old student in China developed rhabdomyolysis from excessive exercise, leading to kidney failure. This is a disease of muscle breakdown. Doctors recommend not exercising beyond your capacity and increasing the intensity gradually.
A news has come from China that cautions the fitness lovers who go to the gym and do vigorous exercise. A 23-year-old university student in China's Henan province fell seriously ill due to excessive exercise. Doctors have confirmed that he has suffered from a serious disease called 'Rhabdomyolysis', in which the muscles of the body start breaking down rapidly. Due to this the boy's kidney also suddenly failed. Dr. Liu Hafei, a nephrologist (kidney doctor) at Henan University of Chinese Medicine, said that the boy worked harder than his capacity during leg training, which led to the condition.
Initially there was blood in his urine and then urine flow stopped completely. When he was brought to the hospital, he could not even walk on his feet. Creatine Kinase levels, which measure muscle damage, had increased more than 100 times the normal level to more than 20,000 units per liter. After this he was immediately put on emergency dialysis. The boy told doctors that he had stressed his legs more than other parts of his body.
Cases of rhabdomyolysis in youth due to excessive exercise have also been reported in the past. Recently, the same thing happened with a 24-year-old boy from China's Zhejiang province. He had never exercised before, but after his job, he worked out vigorously for 20 consecutive days, after which he fell ill and had to be admitted to the hospital.
Doctors warn that if people who do not exercise before, suddenly start exercising more than their body's capacity, then it can be dangerous. Doctors give these suggestions for safe exercise…
Do not increase the intensity of exercise suddenly, increase it gradually.
Drink plenty of water (200 to 300 ml every half hour) to avoid dehydration during workout.
Avoid heavy exercise in extremely hot and humid weather.
If you feel any unusual pain or weakness in the muscles, stop the workout immediately.
