Two key Borussia Dortmund players might be approaching their final season with the club, as reports indicate a potential shift in the team’s long-term plans.

According to Ruhr Nachrichten, Borussia Dortmund is reportedly prepared to part ways with midfielders Marcel Sabitzer and Ramy Bensebaini once their contracts end in 2027.

The report claims that the club is open to allowing both players to leave on free transfers. At the moment, Dortmund does not intend to renew their contracts ahead of time or offload them during the current transfer window.

Interestingly, neither Sabitzer nor Bensebaini is looking to leave this summer. As per transfermarkt.de, both players currently have market values in the mid-single-digit million range, which means BVB can afford to let them go without significant financial consequences.

Borussia Dortmund reportedly has no plans to sell either Sabitzer or Bensebaini at this stage.

In the tactical setup of manager Niko Kovac, both players are not considered automatic starters but are still seen as valuable members of the squad. During the previous season, Bensebaini featured in 32 matches for Dortmund, while Sabitzer made 34 appearances across all competitions.

The club continues to enforce its strict contract policy, ensuring that no player or coach enters the final year of their deal with their future unresolved. Following this principle, Dortmund has already extended the contracts of Felix Nmecha and Nico Schlotterbeck, both of whom were also set to expire in 2027, and is currently in talks with Karim Adeyemi regarding a renewal.

Both Sabitzer and Bensebaini joined the club in 2023. Sabitzer transferred from Bayern Munich in a €19 million deal, while Bensebaini arrived on a free transfer after the expiration of his contract with Borussia Mönchengladbach.
