New Delhi. Trinamool Congress (TMC) suffered another political blow on Wednesday, when Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev resigned from the party and the Upper House. After resigning, Sushmita Dev has met Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. After this the political turmoil has intensified. She is the second MP after TMC’s Sukhendu Shekhar Rai to resign in a week. Dev today met Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. She will meet Rajya Sabha Chairman CP Radhakrishnan and submit her resignation. Before his resignation, there was a lot of dissatisfaction growing within the party and just a few days ago many Trinamool MPs had reportedly spoken of supporting the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). According to sources, Sushmita Dev may join BJP.

This development has come to light after the claims of rebel TMC MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar. He had said on Monday that about 20 MPs of the party had expressed their desire to join the NDA. According to Dastidar, a letter was submitted to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla regarding this move. Let us tell you that Dastidar is leading the rebel faction of TMC and has been made its Chief Whip. Senior MP Shatabdi Roy has been made the deputy leader of the rebel group. The claims by the rebel group have further intensified speculation about the scope of the crisis within the Trinamool Congress.
