In the talks, emphasis was laid on reducing tension, dialogue and diplomacy to restore peace and stability in the region as soon as possible.
This was confirmed in a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office. It was told that Prime Minister Modi expressed deep concern over the increasing tension in West Asia. He condemned in the strongest terms the attacks on Kuwait’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday spoke over telephone with the Emir of Kuwait, His Highness Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. The two leaders discussed the changing security situation in West Asia. The Prime Minister stressed the need for de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy to restore peace and stability in the region at the earliest,” the statement said.
Along with this, the Prime Minister also expressed his gratitude to the Indians living in Kuwait for providing all possible help.
Recently, one Indian lost his life and many were injured in the air attack on Kuwait International Airport. India had strongly condemned the attack.
On June 3, the Ministry of External Affairs said that since the beginning of the conflict in West Asia, India has consistently maintained that the civilian population and civilian infrastructure should not be targeted under any circumstances.
The Ministry of External Affairs had expressed deep condolences to the family of the deceased and said that the Indian Embassy is providing all possible assistance to the injured. The ministry also informed that constant communication has been maintained with the local administration to ensure the safety and welfare of Indian citizens.
The Ministry had assured that all embassies and missions of India in the region are on full alert and are actively providing assistance and support to the Indian community amid the current tense situation.
