Manchester United have once again been linked with Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, as reported by The Athletic. The 31-year-old is said to be one of several goalkeeping options being considered by the club, with Altay Bayindir expected to leave during the upcoming transfer window.

Leeds United’s Karl Darlow is another name under consideration. The experienced shot-stopper will be available as a free agent when his contract at Elland Road expires at the end of this month. Both Darlow and Johnstone qualify as homegrown players, an important factor for United as they prepare their Champions League squad registration.

Meanwhile, the chances of Marshall Munetsi completing a permanent transfer from Wolves to Paris FC appear to be fading. The Zimbabwe international midfielder spent the second half of last season on loan in France after manager Rob Edwards deemed him surplus to requirements. Although discussions for a permanent deal were initiated, the likelihood of it materialising is currently considered very low. Wolves are now expected to explore alternative options for the 29-year-old, who remains under contract at Molineux for another two years.

Elsewhere, Aston Villa are keeping a close eye on Cody Gakpo’s situation at Liverpool. The Dutch forward’s future has come under some uncertainty following the departure of Arne Slot and questions over his role under new Reds manager Andoni Iraola. As per Teamtalk, Liverpool are not currently pursuing a sale, though that stance could shift later in the summer.

Villa are among multiple clubs expressing interest in Gakpo, with Tottenham Hotspur, AC Milan, and Atletico Madrid also monitoring the player’s situation. Additional European interest has also been reported as the transfer window approaches.
