Karl Darlow’s future at Leeds United appears uncertain, with growing external interest that may compel manager Daniel Farke to defend his position as first-choice goalkeeper. The 35-year-old’s current contract is due to expire this summer.

As per a report from The Athletic, Manchester United are contemplating a move for the Wales international. The same report mentions that Leeds United are keen to retain Darlow’s services and are preparing to table a new contract offer.

Darlow featured in 22 Premier League matches last season after stepping in for Lucas Perri, providing stability to the team with a series of assured performances. His efforts earned him a nomination for Save of the Season, and he has firmly established himself as Wales’ number one under the guidance of Craig Bellamy.

Manchester United are understood to be looking to strengthen their goalkeeping unit, especially with Altay Bayindir, currently the understudy to Senne Lammens, expected to move on. Darlow’s status as a homegrown player could make him an even more attractive option for the club.

When asked about his goalkeeping situation in late April—with Illan Meslier and Alex Cairns also nearing the end of their contracts—Farke stated he would only comment once all decisions were finalised. He reaffirmed his confidence in Darlow, continuing to select him during the crucial final stretch of the season and commending both his performances and his professionalism.

Farke also suggested that fans could interpret his selections as an indication of Darlow’s standing within the squad. Meanwhile, Leeds United have secured captain Ethan Ampadu on a new four-year deal, further solidifying their long-term plans.
