Wang Bingbing fulfilled her dream of becoming a bride by holding a solo wedding ceremony. “I might not see you again… Perhaps only after experiencing all the pain can we find release.”

She was an award-winning career lecturer before being diagnosed with advanced cervical cancer in 2023, according to Chinese media. She was unmarried and had no children. The diagnosis dramatically changed the course of her life.

Rather than giving in to despair, she chose to face the illness with optimism. She created a Douyin account called “Great Bingbing (I Came to This World),” where she documented her treatment journey and shared updates with followers.

In November 2023, she underwent a total hysterectomy followed by chemotherapy, according to The Standard. Although the treatment took a heavy physical toll, she continued to share her experiences online and gained support from a growing audience.

Her condition worsened in June 2025 when the cancer returned and metastasized, and she underwent another round of intensive treatment.Determined to have no regrets, she organized a solo wedding ceremony later that year, wearing a white wedding gown and fulfilling her dream of becoming a bride though there was no groom by her side.

On May 8, 2026, one day before her death, Wang posted a final message to her followers.

“I might not see you again. Perhaps only after experiencing all the pain can we find release. I have to go. I’m so reluctant. Thank you to everyone who loved me. Thank you.”

The following day, Wang’s sister announced on social media that she had died at 2:37 a.m. on May 9, aged 29. In a tribute, her sister wrote: “My sister was kind, pure, warm, and sunny her whole life, treating everyone sincerely. She always cared for her close family and held a deep love for life.

“In her short life of over 20 years, she was occasionally willful and mischievous but never lacked courtesy. She treated everyone around her with genuine heart and faced life’s moments with optimism, leaving us countless warm and beautiful memories.

“Her sudden death has plunged our entire family into immense grief; close family and friends are heartbroken. We will forever miss our dear sister. May she be free from pain and suffering in heaven. Rest in peace.”
