Gopalganj. Giving a big gift to the sugarcane farmers, the Bihar government has taken a big step to pay the sugarcane price pending for years. The Cabinet has approved Rs 42.99 crore for payment of dues of about 14 thousand farmers associated with Sasamusa Sugar Mill located in Gopalganj. With this decision, the long wait of the farmers is expected to end.
Approval for payment pending for years
This important proposal was approved in the state cabinet meeting chaired by the Chief Minister. The government believes that this decision will not only give the farmers their rights, but will also give a new direction to the agricultural economy of the region. There was a situation of dissatisfaction among the farmers due to pending payments for years, which is now about to end.
Farmers will get direct benefits
According to government officials, the sanctioned amount will be sent directly to the bank accounts of farmers. This will provide economic strength to sugarcane producing farmers and they will again be attracted towards sugarcane production on a large scale. Experts say that this will lead to improvement in both agricultural production and rural income.
Hope for revival of sugar mill
The government is also making serious efforts for the re-operation of Sasamusa sugar mill. It is believed that increasing availability of raw materials will strengthen the chances of restarting the mill. Its revival will accelerate industrial activities in the area and will provide major benefits to the local economy.
New opportunities for employment and investment
If the mill restarts, there is a potential investment of more than Rs 500 crore in the area. Apart from sugar production, there is also a possibility of developing units like ethanol and power generation. This will create new employment opportunities for local youth.
