Dubai. Seven Indian citizens died while nine others were injured in a tragic road accident in Dubai. The Indian Consulate General has expressed deep sorrow over the incident and expressed condolences to the families of the deceased.
The Indian Consulate General in Dubai said in a statement issued on social media that the news of the death of several Indian workers in a road accident is extremely sad. Embassy officials have reached the hospital and met the injured and are coordinating with the local administration to provide all possible assistance.
According to Dubai Police, the accident occurred when a minibus collided from behind with a truck parked in the middle of the road due to a technical fault. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the truck had suddenly stopped in the middle of the road.
Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan, Director General of the Traffic Department of Dubai Police, said the bus driver failed to exercise sufficient caution and failed to maintain a safe distance, which led to the collision. Seven people died on the spot in the accident, while nine were injured. The condition of five of the injured is said to be critical, while four others have suffered moderate injuries. All the injured were immediately taken to the hospital, where their treatment is ongoing.
