On Sunday, Savannah Guthrie made a poignant public appeal as the search for her mother, Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing for four months, continues. The host of the Today show took to Instagram to share a message alongside an image illustrating Christ's ascension, conveying her unwavering hope for her mother's safe return. The post included the heartfelt words, "Oh my, my soul it cries out, soul, it cries out," followed by a plea: "Bring her home."
Nancy Guthrie, aged 84, vanished from her Tucson, Arizona home on February 1. Authorities suspect she was kidnapped by a masked individual who entered the residence in the early morning hours. Investigators have indicated that ransom notes sent to local media outlets bolster their belief that Nancy was taken against her will, though no suspects have been publicly named.
In a May update, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos stated that his department, along with the FBI and forensic labs, are diligently working on the case. "I think every day they get closer," Sheriff Nanos remarked. He noted that there is still significant work to be done regarding the physical evidence collected, including mixed DNA samples from the scene that are currently being analyzed to identify a potential suspect.
Savannah Guthrie has actively utilized social media to raise awareness about her mother's case. In March, she shared the same biblical image with the message: "I believe, I believe." The day prior, she and her siblings, Annie and Camron, along with their spouses, expressed gratitude to the Tucson community for their support, stating, "We are deeply grateful for the outpouring from neighbors, friends, and the people of Tucson. We are all family now. We continue to believe it is Tucsonans, and the greater southern Arizona community, that hold the key to finding resolution in this case."
On Mother's Day, Guthrie shared a video montage filled with cherished family memories. She wrote, "Mother, daughter, sister, Nonie — we miss you with our every breath. We will never stop looking for you. We will never be at peace until we find you." In her appeal for information, she urged, "We need help. Someone knows something that can make the difference. Call 1800CALLFBI. You can be anonymous, and the reward remains available. Please keep praying. Bring her home."
