Ways to increase children’s interest in studies

Parents often complain that their child starts crying, becomes irritable or makes excuses while studying. Many times, in anger, they resort to scolding or hitting the child, but this is not the solution to the problem. First of all, parents should understand why the child is afraid of studying. It is possible that he may find some subject difficult, have some problems at school or have a lot of study pressure. Scolding a child without any reason can make the problem worse.

Don’t consider studies as a punishment.

In many homes it is said to stop playing and study. This makes the child feel that studying is a punishment or a burden. Therefore, always present studies in a fun way.

importance of short breaks

Do not force children to study for hours. After teaching them for 15-20 minutes, give them a break. When the child completes his work, praise him so that his confidence increases.

avoid comparison

Never compare your child with any other child. This may cause inferiority complex in the child. Every child’s learning pace is different, so appreciate his/her progress.

communicate lovingly

If the child starts crying while studying, hug him and calm him down. Listen carefully to his problems so that he can trust that you are there for him. When the child feels safe, he will be able to express his views openly.

When to take expert advice

If despite these measures the child is afraid of studies, is under extreme stress or is finding difficulty in learning, then immediately contact a child counselor or child psychologist.
