Team India wrapped up the one-off Test against Afghanistan in dominant fashion, sealing a historic victory by an innings and 300 runs inside three days. While the result itself was memorable, the match also marked the arrival of a new star as debutant Manav Suthar delivered a Player of the Match performance.

The 23-year-old left-arm spin all-rounder played a crucial role in India's biggest-ever Test victory, claiming seven wickets across the match and contributing valuable runs with the bat.

Playing his first international Test, Suthar made an immediate impact. He picked up six wickets in Afghanistan's first innings and added another scalp in the second innings as India's spin attack dismantled the visitors.

Afghanistan were bowled out for 152 in their first innings before being forced to follow on. The visitors fared no better in the second innings, managing just 112 runs as India completed a comprehensive victory.

Apart from his exploits with the ball, Suthar also chipped in with 28 important runs and stitched together a valuable half-century partnership with Washington Sundar.

After receiving the Player of the Match award, Suthar revealed that his time at the crease helped him understand the pitch better.

He explained that he felt more comfortable after facing a few deliveries and gradually settled into his innings. Spending time in the middle allowed him to assess the surface and understand how it would assist the spinners later in the match.

Despite his impressive debut, Suthar believes the match taught him an important lesson about Test cricket.

According to the young spinner, success in the longest format comes from repeatedly bowling in the same area and remaining patient. He emphasized that Test cricket is a game that rewards discipline and consistency, and that maintaining pressure over long spells is often more important than searching for magical deliveries.

His performance and mature understanding of the format have already made a strong impression, giving India another promising spin-bowling option for the future.

With seven wickets, crucial runs, and a Player of the Match award on debut, Manav Suthar could hardly have asked for a better start to his international Test career.
