Former Liverpool forward Darwin Nunez is reportedly looking to make a comeback to the Premier League during the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Uruguayan striker is currently in discussions with Al-Hilal to mutually terminate his contract, just a year after completing a £45 million transfer to the Saudi Pro League outfit.

During his time in Saudi Arabia, Nunez found the net nine times in 24 appearances. However, he was unexpectedly omitted from Al-Hilal’s squad for the second half of the season due to foreign player limitations following the arrival of Karim Benzema.

Owing to this development, both parties are now negotiating an amicable exit and possible contract cancellation. Reports from Mundo Deportivo indicate that Nunez, who would become a free agent after the termination, is eager to return to the Premier League.

Liverpool have emerged as a possible destination, with speculation suggesting that the Reds could make a surprise move to re-sign the striker, particularly as Hugo Ekitike remains out injured until the beginning of next year. Newcastle United, Tottenham Hotspur, and Chelsea are also reportedly monitoring Nunez, who netted 40 goals in 143 appearances during his first stint in English football.

The 26-year-old is presently representing Uruguay at this summer’s World Cup, where the national team is drawn alongside Saudi Arabia, Cape Verde, and Spain in the group stage.
