Ujjwala Yojana Cylinder Price: The price of the 14.2 kg LPG gas cylinder has been increased by ₹29 across the country. In Delhi, this cylinder will now be available for ₹942. This marks the second hike in LPG cylinder prices since March. The government provides gas cylinders at affordable rates to poor and underprivileged families under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana. The government offers a subsidy of ₹300 on these cylinders. With the rise in LPG rates, the question arises: has the price of the Ujjwala cylinder also gone up?
Despite the hike in LPG cylinder prices, Ujjwala beneficiaries will continue to receive the ₹300 subsidy per cylinder, just as before. For them, the cost of the subsidized 14.2 kg cylinder in Delhi stands at ₹642. While they will continue to receive the subsidy, they too will now have to pay more out of their own pockets.
A general consumer in New Delhi now gets a gas cylinder for ₹942, whereas a Ujjwala beneficiary gets it for ₹642. This means the price of the Ujjwala cylinder has also increased by ₹29. However, the government has neither reduced nor increased the subsidy provided on it.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Ujjwala scheme in 2016. As of May 2026, there were 105,525,237 Ujjwala gas connections in the country. Beneficiaries are provided with an LPG gas connection free of cost. Beneficiaries receive a 14.2 kg or 5 kg LPG cylinder, a domestic pressure regulator, a 1.2-meter safety hose pipe, a DGCC booklet, an initial filled cylinder, and a two-burner stove completely free of cost.
In October 2023, the Ujjwala subsidy for the 14.2 kg cylinder was increased from ₹200 to ₹300 per cylinder. This subsidy applies to up to 12 cylinders annually. In August 2025, the government set the limit for subsidized cylinders under the Ujjwala scheme at nine.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY), gas connections are issued exclusively to women aged 18 years or older. The applicant's household must not already possess an LPG connection from any oil marketing company. Women belonging to poor families are also required to submit a declaration in the prescribed format.
To apply for a gas connection under the PM Ujjwala Yojana, one must submit a KYC form, a copy of the Aadhaar card, proof of address, a ration card or government document detailing family information, and bank account details. If the applicant is a migrant and the address listed on their Aadhaar card differs from their current address, a self-declaration must also be provided.
Applications for a connection under the Ujjwala scheme can be submitted at any gas agency. Additionally, the facility to apply online through the portals of government gas agencies is available. The government's objective with this scheme is to provide clean fuel to poor families and protect women from health issues caused by smoke exposure.
