India has maintained a strong hold against Afghanistan in the ongoing one-off Test match at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur. On the second day of the match, India declared its first innings on the score of 564/8. By the end of the day, the visiting team had scored 113 runs after losing 5 wickets. From here Afghanistan is 459 runs behind.
After winning the toss and opting to bat, the opening pair of Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul scored 41 runs for the first wicket. Jaiswal was out after scoring 24 runs in 32 balls.
After this, KL Rahul made a partnership of 139 runs with Sai Sudarshan for the second wicket. Sudarshan was out after scoring 81 runs with 13 fours. From here, captain Gill along with KL Rahul scored 67 runs for the third wicket and took the team to the score of 247.
KL Rahul returned to the pavilion after scoring 100 runs with 11 fours. After this, Gill made a partnership of 169 runs with Rishabh Pant for the fourth wicket and took Team India to a huge score.
Gill was out after scoring 126 runs in 177 balls with 16 boundaries, while Pant scored 81 runs with 3 sixes and 6 fours. Apart from these, Washington Sundar remained unbeaten after scoring 52 runs. From the opposition camp, Mohammad Saleem Saifi took 6 wickets for 140 runs in 27 overs, while Ziaur Rehman and Hashmatullah Shahidi took 1 wicket each.
In response, by the end of the second day, Afghanistan had scored 113 runs after losing 5 wickets in 39.5 overs. This team got its first blow in the form of Abdul Malik on the score of just 28. Abdul could add only 16 runs to the team’s account.
After this, Rehmanullah Gurbaz made a partnership of 12 runs with Sediqullah Atal (17) and 22 runs with Rehman Shah. Gurbaz returned to the pavilion after scoring 12 runs in 40 balls with 1 six and 1 four.
After this Rahmat Shah took charge. He added 36 runs for the fourth wicket with captain Hashmatullah Shahidi and 15 runs with Afsar Zazai (3) for the fifth wicket. By the end of the day, Rahmat Shah faced 81 balls and scored unbeaten 43 runs with 1 six and 6 fours.
For India, debutant Manav Suthar has taken 3 wickets for just 21 runs in 15.5 overs, while Prasidh Krishna has taken 2 wickets.
