The Princess of Wales, Catherine, Princess of Wales, reportedly crossed paths with a former boyfriend during a high-profile royal wedding in the picturesque Cotswolds over the weekend.

The occasion was the wedding of Peter Phillips, the son of Anne, Princess Royal, and his bride, Harriet Sperling. The ceremony took place at All Saints Church and attracted several members of the British royal family, including Prince William and Princess Kate.

Among the guests was Rupert Finch, who has long been linked to Kate through reports of a brief romance during their time at university. According to media reports, Finch attended the wedding alongside his wife, Lady Natasha Rufus Isaacs, making him one of the notable attendees at the royal gathering.

Kate and Finch are believed to have dated for approximately a year in 2001 while studying at University of St Andrews in Scotland. At the time, Finch was reportedly a fourth-year student pursuing a legal career, while Kate was beginning her university journey. Their relationship is said to have ended before Kate’s romance with Prince William developed.

Following his university years, Finch completed his legal training at the College of Law and went on to establish a successful professional career. Despite his historical connection to the future Princess of Wales, he has consistently maintained a low public profile and has generally declined to discuss their past relationship in interviews.

Reports have often noted that Kate’s relationship with Finch coincided with her now-famous appearance at a university charity fashion show in 2002. During that event, she wore a sheer dress that reportedly caught Prince William’s attention and has since become part of royal folklore surrounding the couple’s early relationship.

Over the years, there appears to have been no tension between Kate and her former boyfriend. In fact, Finch was among the guests invited to the wedding of Prince William and Kate at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011, suggesting that the two remained on friendly terms after their university romance ended.

Finch married Lady Natasha in June 2013 during a ceremony in Cirencester. The couple have since built a family together and are parents to three daughters: Georgia, Cienna, and India Grace Albertine.
