Ind vs Afg Test Fact Check: Did Rishabh pant actually hit a drone while batting?
Cricket Gully | June 7, 2026 11:39 PM CST

During the India vs Afghanistan one-off Test in Mullanpur, a video went viral on social media where Rishabh Pant was seen playing a lofted drive that hit the drone, and it fell to the ground. However, the video is not true and is AI-generated.

According to the video, it happened to be in the fourth ball of the 74th over, bowled by Hashmatullah. In that ball, Pant played a defensive shot and stole 1 run in the actual match. He had not played an attacking shot. And had it hit the drone above, it would have been called a dead ball.

Apart from that, the ball in play was white. In Test cricket, the ball used is red. The banners on the stadium were not prominent either, and a slight AI tag, which has been smartly cropped away, leads to the conclusion that the video was AI-generated.
