Endrick delivered a standout performance in Brazil’s final warm-up match before the World Cup, scoring the decisive goal in a 2-1 victory over Egypt. The young forward used the emotional moment to send a heartfelt message to Carlo Ancelotti, reaffirming his dedication to the Brazilian national team.

Endrick showcases his potential on the grand stage

In the friendly held in Cleveland, Endrick once again displayed why he is viewed as one of the brightest prospects in global football. The game started at a frenetic tempo, with Brazil taking an early lead just seven minutes in. Midfielder Bruno Guimaraes found the back of the net with a precise strike, but Egypt responded quickly through Mostafa Ziko, who equalised in the 11th minute.

Introduced as a substitute in the second half, Endrick wasted no time making an impact as Brazil pushed for a winner against a resilient Egyptian defence. The decisive moment arrived in the 51st minute, only six minutes after the restart, when Endrick reacted quickest to a loose ball inside the box, demonstrating his sharp instincts to slot home and secure a morale-boosting triumph for the South American side.

A vow to the national team

Visibly emotional, Endrick expressed both relief and joy at being back in the spotlight with the Selecao. After enduring a challenging spell with injury last year, the striker emphasised that his immediate focus is achieving global success with Brazil, using the occasion to reassure Ancelotti and his staff about his fitness and mindset.

“This feeling is something that can’t be explained,” he told Sportv. “I thank God so much for scoring another goal. These are the special moments in my life. Thank God I managed to score the winner. I’m extremely happy because when I was injured, I couldn’t be with the national team, and that’s the hardest thing for any Brazilian player. God willing, I’ll never have to go through that again because this is where I want to be, this is where I want to showcase my football. Always giving everything for my country. I’m truly grateful for this goal. I dedicate it to my wife and our little one who’s on the way.”

Revival in France

With limited opportunities in Real Madrid’s star-studded lineup, Endrick sought a new challenge at Lyon to regain his rhythm and confidence. The loan spell has proven fruitful – with eight goals and seven assists in 21 appearances, he has shown that he is ready to take on a leading role at the Santiago Bernabeu after the international tournament.

Reflecting on his recent journey, Endrick was candid: “After my injury, I knew exactly what I needed to do when I recovered. Unfortunately, I didn’t get much time at Real Madrid, but God directed me towards the right path — going to Lyon, enjoying myself, meeting wonderful people, working with an amazing staff, and getting the chance to play and show my abilities. Now I’m back where I’ve always wanted to be — with the national team. As a child, I dreamed of this moment, and now I’m just a week away from the World Cup. Living this dream will be incredible.”

Focus on the group stage

Brazil will now travel to New Jersey to kick off their World Cup campaign against Morocco on Saturday. Drawn in a group that also includes Scotland and Haiti, the South American heavyweights are expected to advance comfortably, though their performance against Egypt highlighted some defensive adjustments still needed as they chase a record sixth title.

Egypt, meanwhile, can take encouragement from their spirited display against one of the tournament favourites. They begin their own World Cup journey against Belgium on June 15.
