The BWF Indonesia Open 2026 has reached its final day, with some of the world’s biggest badminton stars set to compete for prestigious titles and massive prize money at Jakarta’s Istora Senayan on Sunday.
Home favourite Jonatan Christie delighted Indonesian fans by securing a place in the men’s singles final after producing a remarkable comeback victory over Thailand’s Panitchaphon Teeraratsakul in the semifinal. After losing the opening game 16-21, the fifth seed bounced back strongly to claim the next two games 21-10, 21-12 and book his spot in the championship match.
Christie will face Canada’s Victor Lai, who defeated Chinese Taipei’s Chou Tien-Chen in a thrilling three-game semifinal contest.

In the women’s singles event, Olympic champion An Se-young advanced to the final after overcoming China’s Chen Yufei in a 78-minute thriller. The South Korean star will take on Japan’s reigning world champion Akane Yamaguchi, who comfortably defeated compatriot Sim Yu-jin in the semifinal.
Apart from the race for titles, players will also be competing for significant prize money across all five disciplines.
