Lautaro Martinez found the back of the net to guide Argentina to a win over Honduras in a pre-World Cup 2026 friendly on Sunday (7 June 2026) WIB.

The series of warm-up matches for 2026 FIFA World Cup participants continued, featuring two South American powerhouses — Argentina and Brazil.

Both neighboring teams secured victories over their respective opponents, Honduras and Egypt, on Sunday morning (7 June 2026) WIB.

Facing Honduras, Argentina delivered a solid performance, claiming a convincing 2-0 win.

In that match, La Albiceleste played without their captain and superstar Lionel Messi, who remained on the bench.

Messi is still undergoing recovery from injury to ensure he is fit for the 2026 World Cup.

The Tango team’s victory came through a penalty from Lautaro Martinez in the 37th minute and a goal by Giuliano Simeone in the 54th minute.

This win extended Argentina’s impressive streak to six consecutive victories in their recent friendlies.

Next, Argentina will play one more friendly before the 2026 World Cup — against Iceland on Wednesday (10 June 2026) WIB.

Meanwhile, Brazil wrapped up their final preparations for the quadrennial tournament by defeating Egypt on Sunday morning (7 June 2026) WIB.

Playing against the African side at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, United States, the Selecao triumphed 2-1.

Brazil took an early lead in the 7th minute through Bruno Guimaraes, but Egypt equalized via Mostafa Ziko in the 11th minute.

The score remained level for quite some time before Endrick sealed the win for Brazil with a goal in the 52nd minute.

The Real Madrid wonderkid became the hero with his left-foot strike following a low cross from Raphinha.

The narrow victory for the Samba team was mirrored by Turkey, who also managed to edge out Venezuela.

In that encounter, Turkey initially fell behind after Gleiker Mendoza scored for Venezuela in the 13th minute.

The Crescent-Star side turned things around with goals from Burak Yilmaz in the 44th minute and Yunus Akgun in the 54th minute.

In another match, Curacao secured a dominant victory in their friendly against Caribbean neighbors Aruba.

Facing the world’s 189th-ranked team, La Familia Azul — debutants in the 2026 World Cup — earned a convincing 4-0 win.

All four goals came in the second half, scored by different players.

The goals were netted by Joshua Brenet (53’), Jeremy Antonisse (68’), Livano Comenencia (83’), and Juninho Bacuna (90+1’).
