Hardik Pandya: Indian cricket team has got a new captain for T20 format. The speculations and rumors that have been going on for many days have finally been confirmed by the governing bodies of Indian cricket. Shreyas Iyer has been announced as the new captain of the Indian T20 team. Tilak Verma has been made Vice-Captain. Apart from this, 15 year old superstar Vaibhav Suryavanshi has also been selected for Team India for the first time, becoming the youngest cricketer to be selected for the Indian team. BCCI also announced the squads for the Ireland and England tours as well as the Asian Games and India A’s unofficial test tour. One decision of BCCI that surprised everyone is to keep Hardik Pandya out of all T20I teams. So let us know why Pandya did not get a chance in the team?
Why not Hardik?
It was a surprise to keep Hardik Pandya out of all T20I teams. Ajit Agarkar said that Hardik will be a part of the ODI team for England and there will be some rotation in the T20I team. Hardik will also be tested on the basis of his bowling and the selection committee will take a decision on that basis.
Agarkar said, “Talking about Hardik, he is currently a part of the ODI team for Afghanistan. As we said, if we can prepare him to play well and keep him fit for ODI cricket, I don’t think he has played ODI cricket for some time, so that is the main objective at the moment.”
He said, “We can always bring him back. This also gives us an opportunity to give some opportunities to a player like Nitish Reddy in T20 cricket. So there will be some rest and rotation in terms of T20 cricket.” “The main objective is to see if he can start playing well and stay healthy for 50-over cricket because the World Cup is still about a year and a half away. He gives us a lot of balance. The World Cup is in South Africa and if he bowls well, we will see how we do in the next few months. “That’s the main reason at the moment.”
