The rise of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the jaw-dropping star of Indian cricket, has now reached another landmark achievement, believe it or not. The teenager has been selected for India's teams for the Ireland and England tours for the upcoming T20I series, in addition to the Asian Games 2026.
This prodigy has earned his selection due to his incredible performances during the IPL 2026 and also his performance in age-group cricket. And to be frank, the selection of this teenage talent has become one of the hot topics in Indian cricket, which is creating happiness in the hearts of people, even if they are not hardcore cricket fans.
Special Support from BCCI
Now, with Vaibhav set to make his debut appearance with the senior team, the BCCI has decided to support him a little extra than they usually would.
The BCCI has given Vaibhav permission to take along his parents on the tours of Ireland and England. According to the BCCI, taking his parents along will help him adjust to international cricket, as well as life away from home. The BCCI will bear all costs related to the travel and stay of his parents.
BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia said:
"As he is a child, we have decided to allow his parents to accompany him to Ireland and England, so that they can be with him and help him settle in the new environment. The Board will cover all their expenses."
Thus, the BCCI, through its decision, has tried to put Vaibhav at ease before he begins playing international cricket.
Celebrations in Bihar
When the news of Vaibhav’s selection came out, his hometown in Bihar lit up in celebration. People gathered together , shared sweets, and then fireworks went off , kind of like the sky itself was applauding.
For a lot of folks in that region, it’s more than just a sports headline. It’s a proud moment, and also proof that young talent can climb all the way to the top if you put in hard work and stay focused.
His coach Rahul Kumar said he was really happy after the announcement. “We are all very happy about Vaibhav's selection. He used to play with us, and this is a proud moment for all of us.”
Even fellow cricketer Devashish Thakur chimed in with his excitement. “Vaibhav Sooryavanshi's selection in the Indian team is a matter of great happiness. It is a moment of pride for all of us.”
Record-Breaking Achievement
And it’s not like this is his first time making headlines. Even before his international debut, Vaibhav already made history.
He became the youngest player ever picked for the Indian national team, and by doing that, he broke a record that Sachin Tendulkar had held for 36 years. So yeah, this achievement just adds yet another page to an already unforgettable year for the teenager.

A Dream IPL Season
Vaibhav’s selection story started with a sensational IPL 2026 run. He played for Rajasthan Royals, racking up 776 runs and finishing with the Orange Cap, as the tournament’s leading run-scorer.
Later, he was also named the Most Valuable Player of the season, largely because he kept delivering those match-winning kind of contributions again and again.
During the tournament, he kept taking charge against experienced bowlers, and managed to break multiple records in the process. Naturally, his performances drew praise from both current and former cricketers, including some of the biggest names in Indian cricket.
Bigger Challenges Ahead
But while IPL 2026 showed his talent, international cricket will be a different kind of test.
The Ireland and England tours should give Vaibhav the chance to learn from senior players, while also seeing how he handles top-level opposition, which is where the real pressure begins.
At only 15 years old, he has already done something many cricketers only dream about. And the next few months, they could basically be the start of a long, exciting journey for him in Indian cricket.
