Watch: Ollie Robinson Destroys Rachin Ravindra's Stumps with Perfect Delivery in ENG vs NZ Lords Test
Cricket Gully | June 7, 2026 1:39 AM CST

England pacer Ollie Robinson, landed one of those really proper top notch deliveries to pop Rachin Ravindra’s stumps during the first Test v New Zealand at Lord’s. That wicket showed up at a key moment, and honestly it dragged New Zealand further in the deep end, while they were still chasing a really awkward total.

Ravindra was trying to get himself set, after New Zealand had already dropped a few early wickets, and you could see he was aiming for some calm rhythm at the crease with Devon Conway. But Robinson wasn’t interested in letting things settle.

In the 18th over, Robinson bowled one that was slightly short of a good length, drifting around the off-stump area. Ravindra went forward to defend, thinking it would behave in the usual way, lift up maybe and come into him. Instead that ball stayed low once it pitched, and it also moved away a little, so it just wouldn’t match the plan.

He was properly caught off guard by the bounce, the sort of odd bounce Lord’s can serve without warning. The ball slid under his bat and thudded into the off stump, and suddenly England were celebrating like it was a done deal.

Ravindra finished on 8 runs, off 21 balls, and there was one boundary in there as well. The way he fell also showed how tough it was batting at Lord’s, because a lot of batters on both sides were struggling with that uneven bounce.

And it mattered even more because Ravindra is one of New Zealand’s important batsmen. If he got settled, he could absolutely pull the match toward New Zealand, or at least make England pay.

New Zealand Slip Further as England Bowlers Dominate

When rain stopped on Day 3, New Zealand were in a spot of bother 55 for 5 in 21.3 overs, and they still needed another 199 runs to win the Test.

Tom Latham was out for a duck, Gus Atkinson doing the damage after only three balls. Devon Conway stayed unbeaten on 19, from 55 deliveries, trying to keep the innings from collapsing all the way. Kane Williamson made 18, before Josh Tongue trapped him lbw.

Nightwatchman William O’Rourke, couldn’t get off the mark and was bowled by Atkinson. Ravindra managed just 8 before Robinson again found that lovely rhythm and produced the big ball that removed him. Robinson didn’t stop there either, and right after that he struck once more, dismissing Daryl Mitchell lbw for a duck.

Tom Blundell was still there on 2 alongside Conway when the weather cut in. New Zealand’s 55 for 5 also had eight extras. Glenn Phillips, Nathan Smith, Kyle Jamieson, and Matt Henry were still yet to bat.

For England, Gus Atkinson took two wickets for 16 runs in six overs. Ollie Robinson looked in control the whole time, posting 2 for 18 from 9.3 overs, while Josh Tongue chipped in with one wicket.

With five down already and 199 more required, England still hold the upper hand going into the next session.
