Kakamigahara. The Indian women’s hockey team won the bronze medal in the Under-18 Asia Cup with a spectacular 3-0 win against Korea in the third place match on Saturday. For India, Sandeep Kumari (2nd minute), captain Sweety Kujur (16th minute) and Nausheen Naz (33rd minute) scored goals and gave the team a place on the podium.

After a narrow shootout defeat against China in the semi-finals, the Indian team made a great start against Korea and took the lead in the first two minutes. Sandeep Kumari showed excellent composure and gave India the lead with a brilliant finish in the very second minute. India maintained possession of the ball and made some good moves inside the circle.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has congratulated the Indian women’s U18 hockey team on winning the bronze medal in the U18 Asia Cup 2026. The team showed great spirit throughout the tournament. This achievement reflects the growing strength of women’s hockey in India and the tremendous potential of our players. All the best to the team for their future endeavours.
The team got this reward in the 16th minute when Sweety Kujur doubled India’s lead by scoring a field goal. Nausheen scored another goal for India at the beginning of the third quarter. With this, tournament top scorer Nausheen took her total number of goals in the competition to 12. Sandeep Kumari was adjudged the best player of the match.
