Ranchi: Political activities have intensified in Jharkhand regarding the Rajya Sabha elections to be held on June 18. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has fielded Prof. in this election. The contest has been made interesting by making Gaurav Vallabh the candidate. It is believed that after his entry, this time the elections will not be limited only to political equations but ideas and intellectual capacity will also be discussed. On its part, Congress has fielded Pranab Jha.

How many seats will the elections be held on?

Let us tell you, elections are to be held for two seats of Rajya Sabha. The victory of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate on one of these seats is considered almost certain. It is being said that the real contest will be seen on the other seat. To win this seat, support of 28 MLAs will be required. At present BJP has 24 MLAs, so it may have to face the challenge of gathering additional support.

Who is Gaurav Vallabh?

Pro. Gaurav Vallabh’s name is taken among the well-known economists and educationists of the country and he has been a professor at XLRI, Jamshedpur. Along with this, he is currently a member of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council (EAC-PM). Apart from this, he is considered to have a strong hold on economic and policy issues.

How was your political journey?

Gaurav Vallabh’s political journey has also been quite interesting. Let us tell you, he started his career by working with think tanks to BJP. Later in the year 2018, he joined Congress and also contested elections on behalf of the party but he could not get success. In April 2024, he left Congress and joined BJP.
