Kuwait. Tension in the region has further increased after the US attacks on Iran’s coastal areas of Sirik and Qeshm Islands. In response, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed on Saturday that it had fired missiles of its Aerospace Force targeting ‘enemy targets’ present in the area.

This action of the IRGC came hours after the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the attack on Iran’s coastal surveillance radar bases. According to the US military, the strikes were carried out in response to the downing of four Iranian suicide drones that were deemed an immediate threat to regional maritime traffic.

Kuwait’s military announced that it is taking proactive action to deal with the threat of missile and drone attacks. Whereas in Bahrain, air defense sirens were sounded and people were instructed to go to safe places. The US Army has claimed that Iran fired seven ballistic missiles in the direction of Kuwait and Bahrain.

According to US military officials, six of these missiles were intercepted and destroyed en route, while the seventh missile failed to reach its target. The US Army has also rejected Iran’s claim that the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain was damaged. US Central Command said in a statement, ‘There is currently no information about any damage to US military personnel. The Iranian claim of damage to the headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet based in Bahrain is false.

Kuwait’s army said in a statement released on social media platform X, ‘Kuwait’s air defense system is currently countering hostile missile and drone attacks. If explosion-like sounds are heard, they are due to the air defense system neutralizing the attacks. Kuwait’s army has appealed to the citizens to follow the safety and caution instructions issued by the concerned authorities.

Amid the rapidly increasing military tension in the region, security agencies in the Gulf countries are on high alert and the situation is being constantly monitored. The IRGC warned in a statement that if America’s mischiefs continue, the Strait of Hormuz, which is very important for oil and gas exports, will be completely closed. IRGC said that America will be responsible for this.
