The Albania national football team is set to host Luxembourg in an international friendly match at the Air Albania Stadium in Tirana tonight.
The kick-off for the Albania vs Luxembourg clash is scheduled for 01:00 WIB on Sunday, June 7, 2026.
Neither team is currently preparing for the World Cup, with their next competitive fixtures coming in the UEFA Nations League.
As the home side, Albania enters this fixture after suffering a 1-0 defeat against Israel on Wednesday.
Oscar Gloukh scored the only goal of that match to secure victory for Israel.
The Eagles failed to qualify for the World Cup after losing 2-1 to Poland in the UEFA play-off semi-finals, a game in which Albania had initially taken the lead before being overturned.
In May, Italian manager Rolando Maran was appointed as the new head coach of the Albanian national team, replacing Brazilian coach Sylvinho.
After a rocky start against Israel, Maran will be aiming for a morale-boosting win against Luxembourg.
With no World Cup on the horizon, Albania now turns its attention to the upcoming UEFA Nations League, where they will face Belarus, Finland, and San Marino.
Meanwhile, Luxembourg suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat against Italy in a friendly on Wednesday, with Inter Milan’s Pio Esposito scoring the decisive goal for the Azzurri.
Italy fielded their youngest starting lineup since 1912, featuring eight debutants and captained by goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Luxembourg will also use this friendly as preparation for their Nations League campaign later this year, where the Red Lions are grouped with Bulgaria, Iceland, and Estonia.
Albania vs Luxembourg Head-to-Head and Statistics
Albania and Luxembourg have faced each other seven times, with both nations winning three matches apiece, while one encounter ended in a draw.
According to the latest FIFA World Rankings, Albania currently sits at 65th in the world, while Luxembourg holds the 98th position.
Albania vs Luxembourg Prediction
Playing at home gives Albania a significant advantage, and they are expected to dominate possession and dictate the tempo of the game.
The Eagles are known for their defensive organisation, and with their new Italian coach settling in, they are likely to become even more solid at the back ahead of the next Nations League campaign.
Luxembourg, traditionally viewed as one of Europe’s weaker sides, has shown improvement in recent years. They are likely to employ a low defensive block to frustrate Albania and rely on counter-attacks to create scoring chances.
Although Luxembourg will not make things easy, Albania are still favoured to secure the victory.
Predicted Score: Albania 2-0 Luxembourg
