Cheap Fuel: Amidst rising petrol and diesel prices across the country, there is welcome news for motorists. The government has launched a fuel station to sell cheaper fuel.
Cheap Fuel News: Petrol and diesel prices nationwide have hiked four times in just 10 days, placing a heavy financial burden on the public. The rising cost of fuel has also led to an increase in the prices of daily essentials. Amidst this, the government has offered some relief. While petrol and diesel prices themselves haven't dropped, commuting in Delhi won't be as expensive anymore. Here’s why:
What is the government's master plan?
The central government has arranged for a type of fuel in the national capital, Delhi, that will be available for about ₹20 less than petrol. To facilitate this, the country's first E-85 fuel station has been launched. Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri inaugurated the station, located at the Indian Oil outlet on Pusa Road.
What is E-85 fuel?
E-85 is an alternative fuel blended with ethanol. The term E-85 indicates that the fuel contains approximately 85% ethanol and 15% petrol. Blending a higher proportion of ethanol into petrol reduces dependence on crude oil, ensuring there is no fuel shortage even if crude oil imports are reduced. Since ethanol is produced domestically in India, it attracts no import duties. This move will not only help lower petrol prices but also boost farmers' profits.
What is the price difference?
Regarding E-85 fuel, it could be available for up to ₹20 less than petrol. Currently, its price in the capital, Delhi, has been set at ₹82.12 per litre. Currently, the E-20 petrol available consists of 20 percent ethanol and 80 percent petrol.
To ensure convenience for the public, E-85 dispensers at fuel stations will feature distinct branding and labeling, preventing any confusion. This will allow customers to easily identify the type of petrol they are filling.
