Sanawadiya (Indore), June 4, 2026: In celebration of World Environment Day 2026, the Jimmy Magilligan Center for Sustainable Development hosted an enlightening environmental dialogue on the theme of Climate Action for Clean Water and Clean Air. This event was part of the 34th annual week-long environmental dialogue held from May 30 to June 5, 2026.
The event commenced with a Bahá'í prayer led by renowned environmentalist Dr. (Mrs.) Janak Palta Magilligan. In her welcoming address, Dr. Magilligan highlighted the history and current relevance of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and World Environment Day. She emphasized that environmental protection begins with individual responsibility and inspired students to become sensitive and responsible citizens towards nature, recalling the contributions of her late husband, Mr. Jimmy Magilligan.

Geologist Mr. Sudhindra Mohan Sharma spoke on 'Clean Water and Water Security,' elaborating on the Earth's water cycle, the impacts of climate change, the over-extraction of groundwater, and the challenges posed by dwindling freshwater resources. He stressed the importance of keeping rivers pollution-free and turning water conservation into a public movement.
Dr. Dilip Waghela shared his thoughts on clean air, discussing the causes of air pollution, its adverse health effects, and practical measures for improvement. He called for adopting a green lifestyle, tree planting, and pollution-reducing alternatives.
Students from Vaishnav Institute of Management, Indore actively participated in the event, gaining insights into sustainable development, water conservation, waste management, and the significance of eco-friendly habits through the dialogue.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Prof. Rajiv Sangal, who served as the director of IIT for 40 years. He expressed gratitude to all speakers, organizers, and students, urging a collective commitment to environmental protection and climate action.
