Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain have joined Manchester United in expressing strong interest in highly-rated midfielder Mateus Fernandes.

West Ham United have reportedly set an ambitious £80 million valuation for the 21-year-old, whom they regard as one of their most prized assets. As per sources close to the club, that figure reflects how highly the Hammers rate Fernandes, with many inside the club confident that he can evolve into one of the world’s best players within the next couple of years.

The East London club are facing significant financial pressure following their relegation from the Premier League to the Championship on the final day of the season. To stabilise their finances, West Ham are aiming to generate more than £100 million through player sales during the upcoming transfer window.

Fernandes, who is widely considered the club’s most valuable player, has consequently been tipped to leave this summer. Although West Ham are eager to retain his services, the club acknowledges the need to comply with financial regulations and are open to offers from elite clubs that meet their £80 million valuation.

Given his age and potential, West Ham are aware that it will be difficult to fend off interest from Europe’s top sides. Fernandes enjoyed an outstanding season despite West Ham’s struggles, further increasing his market value and attracting attention from several major teams.

Manchester United are understood to have a concrete interest in Fernandes, who joined West Ham from Southampton last summer for £38 million. Arsenal and PSG, both finalists in this season’s Champions League, are also believed to be monitoring his situation closely.

Fernandes endured a tough end to the campaign, as he not only experienced relegation with West Ham but was also left out of Portugal’s World Cup squad by national team manager Roberto Martinez, adding further disappointment to an otherwise impressive personal season.
