MARTAPURA – As the 2026 FIFA World Cup draws near, jerseys of top national teams have become highly sought after by football fans.
In addition to the surge in sales of jerseys from popular national teams, football shorts have also become best-selling items among local buyers.
Football enthusiasts have been flocking to Inayah Sport store, located on Jalan A. Yani Kilometer 36 in Martapura, Banjar Regency, South Kalimantan.
According to the store attendant, around 80 percent of recent purchases have been made by residents searching for jerseys of their favourite national teams, along with matching shorts.
“The most frequently purchased shorts are from Portugal, France, England, the Netherlands, Germany, and the Indonesian National Team,” said Basiri, a staff member at Inayah Sport Martapura, on Friday (5 June 2026).
He added that most customers prefer shorts representing national teams expected to perform strongly or even win the 2026 World Cup.
“Yes, the jerseys and shorts of top national teams are the most in demand,” Basiri explained.
Basiri also admitted that the store is still in the process of restocking football shorts from several other national teams, as demand continues to rise.
“We’re currently restocking. The demand has been increasing significantly,” he added.
For reference, the 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place from 11 June to 19 July 2026.
The tournament will be co-hosted by three countries: the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
A total of 104 matches will be played over a span of 39 days in this global football event, which is held every four years.
