Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez has announced plans for a €150 million transfer. Despite his public denials, reports suggest that the move could involve Bayern Munich's Michael Olise.
According to a report from the British newspaper The Telegraph, Pérez has officially ruled out pursuing the Bayern Munich winger, but sources claim the Spanish giants are quietly preparing a €175 million bid.
This proposed move is unlikely to materialise in the upcoming summer transfer window. Bayern's sporting director, Max Eberl, had already dismissed any possibility of a sale back in April, saying, “No, quite simply: no. We have a long-term project, and Michael is happy here.”
Michael Olise, who has a long-term contract at Säbener Straße, is reportedly not considering a transfer at this stage, especially not one that would take him to Spain.
Eberl confirms: No release clause in Olise’s contract
In October last year, Eberl firmly denied the existence of a release clause in Olise’s deal. Speaking to 11Freunde, he said, “What I feel is being overlooked in this discussion is that, in Michael Olise, we have signed a professional from Crystal Palace who has a contract with us until 2029 – without a release clause – and is on his way to becoming one of the world’s best players.”
Rumours had been circulating that the 24-year-old Frenchman could be bought out of his contract at Säbener Straße, which runs until 2029. When asked about the speculation in late August, sporting director Christopher Freund kept things vague: “As a matter of principle, we never discuss the contents of contracts.”
Pérez announces a major deal for Real Madrid
Pérez has already stated that Real Madrid are preparing a €150 million bid for a “superstar on a par with Cristiano Ronaldo,” adding that the deal is a top priority and is expected to be completed swiftly.
“On Tuesday, I will table a substantial offer to a leading Champions League club for a player who would deliver the biggest transfer in Madrid’s history. At least €150 million,” Pérez said.
Olise’s impact at Bayern: 53 goal contributions in 52 games
Pérez has dismissed rival candidate Enrique Riquelme’s claims that a deal for a star striker is already done. While Real Madrid are also linked with Erling Haaland, Pérez has categorically ruled out moves for Olise, Jeremy Doku, and Harry Kane. Signing any player from arch-rivals FC Barcelona has also been ruled out.
Michael Olise joined Bayern Munich from Crystal Palace during the summer for €53 million. He made an immediate impression, becoming the only new signing to have an instant impact, with 22 goals and 31 assists in 52 appearances across all competitions.
