All of them will battle fiercely to prove who is truly the best in the world.
Both Portugal and Argentina will aim to lift the coveted 2026 World Cup trophy.
Adding to the drama, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi are expected to play their final World Cup matches in this edition of the tournament.
This moment will surely be an emotional one for their fans worldwide, as two of football’s greatest legends prepare to end their international journeys in 2026.

In the meantime, football enthusiasts across Palangka Raya and Central Kalimantan are eagerly awaiting the performances of their favourite teams during this global spectacle.
Argentine Fans Hope Lionel Messi Leads Albiceleste to Back-to-Back 2026 World Cup Titles
Sastra Wijaya Kalontong, an Argentina supporter from Central Kalimantan, said there are three nations likely to pose serious challenges to Argentina in the 2026 World Cup.
“The three strongest contenders are Portugal, France, and Spain – teams that will be tough opponents if Argentina wants to defend the title,” he stated.
Despite the competition, Sastra Wijaya expressed strong confidence in Lionel Scaloni’s squad for the upcoming tournament.
“Under Lionel Scaloni’s leadership, Argentina has maintained a solid and disciplined playing identity with a strong winning mentality,” he explained.
“This team no longer relies solely on one individual but focuses on collective strength, inter-line coordination, and improved squad depth.”
“Moreover, the emergence of young players has injected fresh energy, allowing Argentina to remain competitive in an increasingly intense football landscape.”
Sastra Wijaya believes Argentina has a great chance of winning back-to-back World Cup titles, crediting their experience and strong team cohesion.
“Aside from Lionel Messi, I believe Lisandro Martínez and Julián Álvarez will shine in the 2026 World Cup,” he added.
As a lifelong Argentina fan, Sastra admitted Messi’s final World Cup appearance will be an emotional mix of pride and sadness.
“It’s a privilege to have witnessed the greatest player of all time wear the Albiceleste jersey, but it’s also heartbreaking to see such a beautiful era come to an end,” he said.
“Every touch, every goal, and every assist will become a treasured memory. When the final whistle blows, it will feel like saying goodbye to the legend who turned Argentina’s dream into reality.”
Portugal Fans in Kotim Hope Cristiano Ronaldo Lifts the 2026 World Cup Trophy
Rihel, Head of the National Unity and Political Agency (Kesbangpol) of Kotim, admitted he cannot wait for the world’s biggest football tournament to begin.
For him, the 2026 World Cup holds a special emotional value compared to previous editions.
This tournament is expected to be the final stage for two of football’s greatest icons – Lionel Messi with Argentina and Cristiano Ronaldo with Portugal.
“This might be the last World Cup for Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. For over a decade, I’ve enjoyed watching both of them. They are undoubtedly two of the best players in modern football history,” Rihel said on Thursday, 4 June 2026.
While Messi has already achieved World Cup glory with Argentina in the previous edition, Rihel hopes Ronaldo will have his moment this time.
“I truly hope Cristiano Ronaldo gets his turn this year. It would be a wonderful story if he could lead Portugal to a world championship,” he added.
Rihel believes Portugal has a strong chance in the 2026 World Cup.
He noted that the Selecao possess impressive squad depth across all areas, particularly in midfield, which he considers their biggest strength.
Names such as Bruno Fernandes, Vitinha, João Neves, and Nuno Mendes were highlighted as key players who can make a significant difference in matches.
Portugal also boast striker Gonçalo Ramos, who is expected to be a crucial asset in attack.
“Portugal’s squad depth is excellent. Nearly every position is filled with top-quality players. Their midfield, in my opinion, is among the best in the world,” Rihel observed.
He also acknowledged Argentina as another strong contender, noting that Messi’s continued presence as a source of inspiration could once again drive the Albiceleste to success.
Rihel praised several Portuguese players who have performed exceptionally well for their clubs, including those at Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), who achieved success in both domestic competitions and the UEFA Champions League.
He believes those achievements will provide Portugal with valuable momentum heading into the World Cup.
“Portugal are in top form. Many of their players arrive with high confidence after winning titles with their clubs,” he explained.
Despite backing Portugal, Rihel expects the race for the 2026 World Cup title to be extremely competitive.
“Regardless of who wins, I hope this World Cup serves as a fitting farewell for one of football’s greatest generations,” he concluded.
