Adani overtakes Ambani in the race for wealth.

Gautam Adani's Per Day Earnings: The year 2026 proved to be a profitable one for veteran businessman Gautam Adani, while it was a loss-making one for Mukesh Ambani. A recent report by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index revealed that Gautam Adani earned an average of ₹1,897 crore per day this year. Meanwhile, Mukesh Ambani lost an average of ₹1,352 crore per day.

Adani becomes Asia's richest person.

With such a staggering daily income, Gautam Adani has once again surpassed Mukesh Ambani to become Asia's richest man. He currently ranks 19th on the Bloomberg Index of the world's richest people, while Mukesh Ambani has slipped one spot to 20th.

What was the source of income?

According to a recent June 2026 report, the Adani Portfolio's EBITDA (operating profit) reached an all-time high of ₹94,834 crore. The Adani Group focuses on the infrastructure and green energy sectors. Its annual investment in these sectors is ₹1.53 lakh crore, the highest of any Indian company. Consequently, investor confidence in its shares remains strong, and its market cap is rapidly increasing.

Why did Ambani suffer losses?

A significant portion of Mukesh Ambani's income comes from Reliance Industries, which operates the world's largest oil refining complex. Rising tensions in the Middle East have hurt the Ambani group's businesses. Consequently, foreign investors are withdrawing funds from Reliance, a large and Nifty-heavy company, and turning to other stock markets, leading to a sharp decline in its shares.

If Reliance's petrochemicals, oil, or retail sectors perform poorly in a given quarter, the stock price can fall by 2-3% in a single day. Given Reliance's large market cap, even a 2% decline can reduce Ambani's net worth by thousands of crores.
