Australia's former skipper Michael Clarke revealed that he had a serious road accident on his way back home from the final of IPL 2026 which was held at Ahmedabad. The former batsman who was a part of the commentary team for the league expressed his fear during the incident and said he was lucky to have escaped from it with just a couple of bruises.

The Australian former skipper was en route to the airport after the culmination of the IPL 2026 finale and the car that he was traveling in met with an accident when it crashed with a semi-trailer truck. The former batter stated that the car went under the truck but he and his co-passenger, driver, managed to survive the accident with the former sustaining minor injuries.

While speaking on the Beyond23 Cricket Podcast, the Australian added:

"It was a bit interesting the trip home, just to say the least. I guess the biggest thanks is to people in India just incredible people the main thing is that's why I made it home safe."

Clarke Woke Up To Find Car Under Truck

Clarke said :

"I was asleep I fell asleep right after the final, travelling. Obviously wasn't driving and then woke up to literally find half the front of our car under the truck. The driver said to me his brake lights were not working the semi-trailer. So my driver had run into the back of it and with it being a huge semi-trailer our car had gone underneath it. She's written off now, the car certainly is."

While Clarke was grateful to have gotten away with a couple of bruises he was worried about his driver whom he suspected had fractured his leg.

He added :

"I was fortunate to walk away with some bruises, I think he did have a break in his leg,"

Praise For Locals And BCCI Support

Clarke expressed his gratitude for the locals and officials from the Board of Cricket for Control in India (BCCI) for taking care of both him and his driver.

Clarke explained :

"And every bit of support that we had...everyone at the BCCI everybody who was involved over there, they were checking in on him, they were checking in on me all the time. They've been unbelievable. I'm really grateful for that,"

Recalling the incident the former skipper admitted it was the awakening part that was the most shocking:

"It was just an accident they happen all the time and it was the shock of waking up finding I was basically just under a semi-trailer truck."

Though he went through a frightening ordeal the former skipper was fortunate enough to board his flight home and had some fond memories to take away from the IPL.

He concluded :

"So it wasn't the ideal way home, but I got on my flight and I'm back here, and I was really fortunate to be a part of yet another successful IPL campaign, I just love the IPL,"
