When is Devshayani Ekadashi 2026? Note down the date, auspicious works will stop for 4 months from this day.

New Delhi: Ekadashi fast is considered to have special significance in Hindu religion, but Devshayani Ekadashi is counted among the most important Ekadashis. In the year 2026, Devshayani Ekadashi will be celebrated on 25th July. Chaturmas begins from this day and it is believed that Lord Vishnu goes into Yoga Nidra in Kshirsagar for four months.

As soon as Chaturmas starts, all the auspicious functions like marriage, housewarming, mundan and sacred thread stop. Therefore, it is considered appropriate to do auspicious work before Devshayani Ekadashi.

Devshayani Ekadashi 2026 date and time

Ekadashi tithi of Ashadha Shukla Paksha will start on 24th July 2026 at 9:12 am and will end on 25th July 2026 at 11:34 am. According to Udaya Tithi, this fast will be observed on 25th July.

Auspicious time of puja- 7:21 am to 9:03 am

Time of fasting- 5:39 am to 8:22 am on July 26, 2026

Wake up early in the morning, take bath and wear clean yellow clothes. Install the idol of Lord Vishnu and light a lamp. Offer them Tulsi leaves, yellow flowers and Panchamrit. Chant the mantra “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya” and recite Vishnu Sahasranama.

Devshayani Ekadashi is also known as Harishayani, Padma and Ashadhi Ekadashi. It is believed that fasting and worshiping on this day brings special blessings of Lord Vishnu.

What can you eat during fasting?

Devotees can fast without water, eat fruits or have satvik food as per their capacity. Chanting bhajan-kirtan and meditating on Lord Vishnu at night is considered auspicious. Break the fast the next day on Dwadashi Tithi and donating to the needy is considered very virtuous.
