Georgia will host Bahrain at the Mikheil Meskhi Stadium in Tbilisi for an international friendly on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 00:00 WITA (Lombok time).

Neither side will feature in the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026.

With world-class players such as Kvicha Kvaratskhelia and Giorgi Mamardashvili in their ranks, Georgia will be disappointed to have missed out on World Cup qualification. However, they are now turning their focus to the upcoming UEFA Nations League later this year.

This friendly fixture against Bahrain, along with the 1-1 draw against Romania on Tuesday, serves as preparation for Georgia’s Nations League campaign, where they will face Northern Ireland, Ukraine, and Hungary starting in September.

In their recent draw with Romania, Giorgi Kvilitaia opened the scoring early in the second half before Louis Munteanu equalised for the visitors in the 55th minute.

Bahrain, on the other hand, have not been active on the international stage since the FIFA Arab Cup in December. They are looking forward to this match against Georgia, followed by another friendly against Syria on June 9.

These matches are part of Bahrain’s build-up to the AFC Asian Cup in January 2027. The team, nicknamed the Pearl Divers, will face North Korea, Jordan, and Uzbekistan in the group stage of the continental tournament.

Head-to-head: Georgia vs Bahrain

Georgia and Bahrain have no prior head-to-head record, making this their first-ever meeting on the football pitch.

Their current FIFA World Rankings are relatively close, with Georgia ranked 72nd globally and Bahrain 84th.

In the FIFA Arab Cup 2025, Bahrain’s campaign ended at the group stage following defeats to Iraq (2-1) and Algeria (5-1), before they managed a 3-1 victory over Sudan.

Team News: Georgia vs Bahrain

Georgia will be without veteran captain Guram Kashia, who announced his international retirement after the draw against Romania.

The experienced defender earned 129 caps over an 18-year international career and captained the side during their historic Euro 2024 run. He received a standing ovation when substituted in the 64th minute, with Ilia Beriashvili expected to replace him in the starting lineup.

The hosts will also be missing Georges Mikautadze and Zuriko Davitashvili due to injuries, while Kvaratskhelia remains doubtful for the game.

Bahrain travel with several seasoned internationals, including Mohammed Marhoon, Komail Al Aswad, Ali Madan, and Mahdi Humaidan.

Mahdi Abduljabbar, Sayed Dhiya Saeed, Amine Benaddi, Waleed Al Hayam, and Abdulla Alkhalasi are also expected to play key roles for the visitors.

Score Predictions: Georgia vs Bahrain

Sportskeeda’s Prediction

Georgia play a disciplined, counter-attacking style heavily reliant on the individual brilliance of Kvaratskhelia, who has showcased his lethal form for Paris Saint-Germain this season from the left flank and in attack.

Bahrain are known for their compact defensive structure and quick transitions down the wings.

Given that Georgia are the hosts, the Crusaders are expected to edge out a narrow victory.

Predicted Score: Georgia 2-1 Bahrain

Sportsmole’s Prediction

Bahrain should provide stiff competition, backed by their experienced internationals, but Georgia appear to be further along in their development and have shown promising signs in recent months.

Even if Kvaratskhelia is unavailable, the hosts possess superior quality across the pitch and, buoyed by home support, should have enough to secure a close win.

Predicted Score: Georgia 2-1 Bahrain

TribunLombok’s Prediction

Despite missing several key players, Georgia still hold a clear advantage in individual quality over Bahrain. With top-tier goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili and several players active in European leagues, Georgia’s overall level remains higher than their opponents.

Bahrain’s organised play and decent international experience are notable, but their lack of competitive action since December could affect their rhythm against a physically and technically intense side like Georgia.

Playing at home in Tbilisi with strong fan support gives Georgia a major boost. The Crusaders typically perform more aggressively on home soil, controlling possession and tempo. Bahrain often struggle against teams that dominate ball control and apply early pressure.

Even if Georgia miss Kvaratskhelia’s explosiveness, their midfield creativity should be enough to create scoring opportunities. Bahrain may hold defensively for a while, but constant pressure is likely to lead to goals for the hosts in both halves.

A clean-sheet victory for Georgia is anticipated.
