A new security feature has arrived for Android smartphone users that detects fake calls and alerts you before you even answer. Google states that this feature will help prevent issues related to AI voice cloning scams and call spoofing attacks. Google's fake call detection feature is rolling out to Android users globally and will be available within the 'Phone by Google' app. This new feature serves as an additional layer of security.

**Fake Call Detection Coming to These Android Phones**
In a blog post, Google announced the global rollout of the new fake call detection feature for devices running Android 12 and newer versions. Google noted that fake call detection is enabled by default in the 'Phone by Google' app and can automatically identify fake calls. The feature utilizes Rich Communication Services (RCS) with end-to-end encryption to ensure user privacy and security.

If a user's Android phone detects a potential fake call, the receiver's handset pings the caller's phone for verification. If the user on the other end confirms they are not currently making the call, the 'Phone by Google' app sends a warning to the receiver's phone. It advises them to disconnect the call immediately, thereby protecting users from falling victim to fake calls and spoofing attacks.

Citing Interpol's 'Global Financial Fraud Threat Assessment' (March 2026), Google highlighted that fraud is a leading cause of financial losses exceeding $400 billion (approximately ₹38,28,300 crore) worldwide.
