Foreign player of Persib Bandung, Frans Putros (right), is among the five footballers from ASEAN clubs who will participate in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Clubs across Southeast Asia, commonly known as ASEAN, will have a total of five representatives at the 2026 World Cup.
These five players currently play in Indonesia, Malaysia, and Thailand’s top football leagues.
From Indonesia’s Liga 1, Persib Bandung will send one player — Frans Putros.
Putros has been named in Iraq’s final squad for the 2026 World Cup.
The centre-back joined Persib in July 2025 and, according to Transfermarkt, his contract with the club runs until 31 May 2026.
It remains uncertain whether Putros will extend his stay at Persib after the tournament.
During his time with the Bandung-based club, he has featured in 36 matches across all competitions, including the Super League and the 2025/2026 AFC Champions League Two.
Meanwhile, Malaysia’s domestic league will be represented by three players at the 2026 World Cup.
Selangor FC contributes two players to Jordan’s national team — midfielder Noor Al-Rawabdeh and centre-back Mohammad Abualnadi.
According to Transfermarkt, both Noor Al-Rawabdeh and Mohammad Abualnadi have contracts with Selangor FC that expire on 31 May 2026.
In addition, Terengganu FC’s forward Gervane Kastaneer will appear at the 2026 World Cup with the Curacao national team.
The former Persib striker is listed among the 26 players selected for Curacao’s World Cup squad.
Kastaneer’s contract with Terengganu FC runs until 2027.
From Thailand’s league, there is one representative — Rebin Sulaka of Port FC.
The centre-back has also been called up to Iraq’s final World Cup squad.
Rebin Sulaka joined Port FC in July 2025, with his current contract set to end in June 2027.
