Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has created a major stir in the football world by officially confirming the club’s first key signings for the upcoming season. Speaking ahead of the crucial presidential elections, the 79-year-old leader revealed that a top-class defender and a world-renowned coach will be joining the Santiago Bernabeu outfit.

Perez confirms Konate signing and Mourinho’s comeback

Perez made a striking revelation about Real Madrid’s transfer strategy, announcing that Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konate will become a Real Madrid player next season if he continues as president. The 27-year-old French centre-back is expected to move to Madrid on a free transfer after his contract at Anfield expires.

In an interview with Diario AS, Perez expressed his confidence, stating: “We’re working on all these signings. I can assure you that if I remain president of Real Madrid, one of the world’s top defenders, Konate, will be playing for Real Madrid from next season onwards. And he won’t be the only top defender to join us if I stay at the helm of Real Madrid.”

The president further confirmed that Jose Mourinho has been chosen to take charge of the team from the sidelines, saying: “Mourinho is one of the world’s great coaches and he was very important for Real Madrid during his previous spell. He managed the team during that record-breaking league season. He helped elevate our competitiveness to a very high level, which was crucial for everything that followed. Mourinho and Konate are my first signings.”

Contract updates and Dumfries deal revealed

With official announcements expected soon, reports claim that the documentation for these major transfers is already completed. According to Fabrizio Romano, Konate signed a four-year contract on Wednesday night — a move seemingly confirmed by Aurelien Tchouameni, who liked Romano’s social media post. Konate has already bid an emotional farewell to Liverpool fans, admitting he is ready for “a new challenge and a new chapter” after being unable to agree on a contract extension at Anfield. The former RB Leipzig defender might not be the only big signing, as reports also suggest that Inter Milan’s Denzel Dumfries has agreed to join Real Madrid.

Vinicius Junior’s future clarified

Amid the buzz over incoming transfers, Perez also addressed the situation surrounding current star Vinicius Junior. Dismissing rumours of a possible exit, the president made Real Madrid’s position clear. “Vini is one of the best players in the world and he is delighted to be a Madrid player. He was decisive in winning the last two European Cups and he has one year left on his contract. There is still time, but I tell you Vinicius wants to stay at Madrid and I want him to stay,” Perez said.

Election pressure and a new chapter

These headline-making revelations come just days before around 100,000 club members are set to cast their votes in the presidential election, where Perez faces competition from Enrique Riquelme — who recently claimed that Erling Haaland is keen to join Real Madrid, an assertion strongly denied by the striker’s representatives. As the club looks to bounce back from a season without silverware, the promises of Konate, Dumfries, and the return of Mourinho send a bold message to fans and voters alike about Perez’s vision for Real Madrid’s future.
