The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has revealed its candidates for the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. From Arunachal Pradesh, Tai Tagak has been nominated. In Gujarat, the party has placed its trust in Rajubhai Shukla, Mukeshbhai Rathwa, and Mansingh Parmar. Madhya Pradesh will see Tarun Chugh and Rajneesh Agrawal as candidates. A. Sharda Devi will represent Manipur, while Alka Gurjar and Satish Poonia have been chosen from Rajasthan. Additionally, Debashish Samantaray has been selected as the candidate from Odisha for the 2026 by-elections.
Election Commission Schedules Rajya Sabha Elections
Previously, the Election Commission announced the schedule for biennial elections for 24 Rajya Sabha seats across ten states. Several members, including former Prime Minister H. D. Deve Gowda, Union Minister George Kurian, and Ravneet Singh, are set to complete their terms next month. There will be four vacant seats each in Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, and Karnataka, three in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, two in Jharkhand, and one each in Manipur, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram.
Upcoming Election Notifications
According to the commission, the notification will be issued on June 1, with voting scheduled for June 18. The counting of votes will also take place on the same day. The commission has also announced by-elections for one Rajya Sabha seat each in Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu, which became vacant following the recent election of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and AIADMK MP C. V. Shanmugam to the state assembly.
