Tottenham Hotspur ended the Premier League season in 17th place for the second consecutive year, and unlike last time, they couldn’t even soften the blow with a Europa League triumph.

The 2025-26 campaign was a nightmare for Spurs, reflecting the internal chaos and some questionable calls from the management. Once Harry Kane and Son Heung-min were taken out of the picture, it quickly became clear how fragile the setup was.

With Daniel Levy also stepping away from the board, the club appeared rudderless. Now, sporting director Johan Lange is tasked with stabilising things alongside new manager Roberto De Zerbi. Meanwhile, supporters are being offered a chance to take on the role of decision-maker themselves.

To make a real push up the Premier League table in 2025-26, Tottenham will need a major improvement. That means trimming the squad, raising funds through sales, and bringing in the right reinforcements for De Zerbi’s system.

Thanks to a new interactive clearout tool developed by The Extra Inch, fans can now simulate Tottenham’s summer rebuild by making decisions on every player in the squad. There are 40 players to consider, and yes, FourFourTwo has already tested it out.

The tool allows users to assign each player into one of five categories: Keep, Loan, Listen to Offers, Find a Buyer, and the ruthless Release/Get Rid. Each choice applies a financial multiplier to the player’s value, affecting the club’s overall balance.

Based on the fans’ selections, the tool automatically calculates how much Spurs could earn or lose through player sales, loans, or releases, as well as the potential costs of signing back players who spent the season away on loan from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

In our version of the simulation, we opted to secure the services of Randal Kolo Muani and Joao Palhinha, which left Theoretical Spurs FC facing a summer deficit of €60 million.

However, by entertaining offers for players such as James Maddison, Mohammed Kudus, and Richarlison, we estimated potential income of €103 million — enough to offset that deficit and leave around €48 million available for new signings.

We decided not to sanction the sale of any other core first-team players despite the disastrous campaign, meaning those funds could be reinvested in strengthening the squad.

That’s where the strategic challenge truly begins. Fans who fancy themselves as sharp talent spotters can also propose their own imaginary transfers within the tool.

Perhaps you’d like to arrange a virtual transfer for Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton & Hove Albion, or maybe negotiate a move for Manchester City’s full-back Savinho. Even Middlesbrough’s Hayden Hackney could be an interesting option if you’re reshaping the midfield.

And if bringing in such talent means parting ways with a few high-profile names, so be it. The reality is clear: Tottenham’s squad needs a major overhaul to get back on track.
